  • Individual Counseling
  • School Counseling Lessons
  • Group Counseling

Counseling referrals for students can be made by parents, teachers and other staff members including administration.  Students referred can be seen on a limited (once or twice) or a regular (usually weekly) basis depending on the needs of the student. Parents are asked to consent (give permission) for counseling on a weekly basis.

School Counseling Lessons

School Counseling Lessons
Topics for school counseling lessons vary but include:  respect, empathy, bullying, anger and conflict management, and more.  A newsletter titled, "Counselor's Corner"will come home with your child each time I visit their classroom covering the topic about which we learned and other items of interest. We believe that a child's character is important and that, along with academic success will help your child be all that he or she can be.

Lunch Bunch...Group counseling at Southeast is delivered through our "Lunch Bunch" program. Various topics are offered to students by grade level. Permission forms are sent home with students describing the topic for that month. Students given permission by their parents to join will attend once a week on the same day during their lunch time.  They eat lunch in my room and participate in that week's activity. The groups usually last 4 weeks. Some groups that are offered:

TGIF  Transitional skills for future 3rd grade students
Peace Pals  Friendship and social skills for all ages
Girl's Club  Teaching pre-teen girls how to navigate friendship
Tough Stuff    Emotional support for students affected by death, divorce or other family problems
Peace Seekers  Problem solving
Stress Busters  Learning how to handle stress and anxiety
Open Students may sign up weekly to have lunch with counselor
